If you were Jewish and living in Europe in 1939, it is unlikely that you would have been alive in 1945. The Mokotow family was no exception. Leonard Mokotow. Properly not a Holocaust victim. Because of the increased anti-Semitism in Germany, he was sent by his parents from his native Berlin to live with cousins in England. He was killed in a 1941 London bombing raid. His parents survived the Holocaust by escaping Germany and hiding out in France. They did not discover the fate of their son until after the war. Both died shortly afterwards.
